Election Musings

Musings about the election:
As it sits right now (and they are not all final) CPC 124, Lib 103, BQ 51, NDP 29, Some guy from Quebec 1:
1-We'll be doing this again very soon. Harper won't pull a Joe Clark, but if this Parliament lasts 2 years I'll shit my pants.
2-It is nice to have a PM from outside of Quebec, I know that they have a distinct culture, but does that ean the seat of power for 30 years?
3-Paul Martin to step down as Liberal leader, too bad, I think he could have tried one more election. He did a good job as PM. I liked him.
4-Who will lead the Liberals? I say Ralph Goodale is the man, but what do I know? It'll be some boring old guy from Quebec or Ontario.
5-NDP gets a lot more seats, good for them, soon they can wear their big-party pants. It seems like the NDP is always 1-4 seats away from any real power.
6-Good on the Greens for getting more votes, the extra federal funding will come in handy.
7-Harper can't go all crazy right-wing, so expect a moderate government.
8-Can the Greens be allowed into the debates yet?
9-Notice how Global called the election way too early? Even Gormley said that they were a tad hasty. Kinda like Fox for GWB.
10-Will the urban/rural split be a divisive nationally as it has been provincially for Saskatchewan?
11-Will the Bloq shut up about their seats indicating a need for another referendum? You lost seats, you lost percentage popular vote, case closed. That said, I wish Duceppe was a federalist, because he is the best of the party leaders around.
12-Page Stephen Harper, I found his personality. It was in Calcutta next to his soul. Stupid Air Canada fucks everything up.
13-It's interesting that both Brison and Stronach won their ridings after crossing the floor, goes to show how much of the vote is for the person not the party.
14-It's interesting the number of high-profile candidates that lost their ridings, goes to show how much of the vote is the party, not the person.
15-Jack Layton still looks like a weasel.
16-Hasn't Jim Pankiw figured it out? A platform of racism, hate, and ignorance will only get you about 4500 votes. 7500 in Arkansas.
17-My rediculous predictions were way off.
18-cya next year!

Vancouver

Just got back from a conferemce in Vancouver. Conference was a little dry, but interesting. Holy shit is it expensive to drink in Vancouver, beautiful city though. I particularily like the aquarium. A lot of bums though. A lot. Friendly bums, one told me where the best bars are. I didn't go to the homeless bars. A little too Saskatchewan for me.
